The talks collapsed on the morning of 4 Oct, mostly over who runs counter-terror policy in KP. So PTI's march went ahead: north up the Indus Highway, from its southern base toward the motorway at Swabi.

CM Sohail flies in by helicopter and starts the march at Gandi Chowk. Police on site say 8,000 to 15,000 people; AFP says "thousands". Meanwhile Gandapur's convoy sets out from D.I. Khan to join.

The D.I. Khan convoy, the biggest of the day, gets stopped at Yarik Toll Plaza. Gandapur blames Section 144; the governor says there was none. After hours it turns back. Only Aaj News says it joined.

People from Bannu join at the Bannu–Karak border, where CM Sohail calls it "a Test match that becomes a T20 in two days". Karak near midnight, camp at Jail Chowk. Police: down to hundreds by now. Karak's phones go dark.

Camp at Mattani, then west to Bara, CM Sohail's home tehsil. He says he was offered Imran's medical care in exchange for signing off a new military operation, and refused. Decision point moves from Khairabad to Swabi. Khyber and Peshawar lose signal.

A Landi Kotal convoy comes down the pass to Bara. The High Court sends CM Sohail a notice over the helicopter. Due at Hayatabad at 2 pm, in after 6, "hundreds" waiting. Next stop: Charsadda.

On the far side of the Indus, Punjab blocks the roads at Attock and Taxila with shipping containers and sandbags. Federal ministers say the march will not enter Punjab or Islamabad.

Mardan Saturday, then Swabi Interchange, on the 11th or 12th depending on who you read. Kohat, Bannu and D.I. Khan convoys first; Peshawar and Malakand on the 13th, when the next move is announced. Nothing after that.
